BIOGRAPHY
Born in 1973, Judicaël Perroy started his guitar studies at the age of 7 through the Municpal Interdistrict Conservatory of Paris. From 1983 to 1988, he studied with Delia Estrada and Raymond Gratien at the National School of Aulnay-sous-Bois, graduating first in his class with unanimous honors from the jury. At 11 years old, Perroy performed two Vivaldi concertos as a soloist with the Ensemble Instrumental du Mans, conducted by André Girard. Later, Roberto Aussel and Daniel Lavialle played a key role in Perroy’s artistic development. In 1994, he graduated from Alberto Ponce’s class with a Concert Licence from the École Normale de Musique de Paris, and in 1996, he received first prize at the Conservatoire Nationale Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Paris (CNSMDP).
In 1997, he was awarded the first prize at the 15th Guitar Foundation of America International Concert Artists’ Competition, which took place in La Jolla, California that year. This award ignited an international career that has seen performances in such venues as Moscow’s Tchaikovsky Concert Hall, Taipei’s National Concert Hall, Teatro de la República in Mexico, and the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam.
Perroy has recorded ten full-length albums, two of which are dedicated to the works of Johann Sebastian Bach and Manuel Maria Ponce (both released by Naxos). He also recorded a recital album premiering works by Ourkouzounov and Bogdanović (released by GHA in 2024).
As a highly sought-after teacher, Perroy has been invited to teach at major universities and conservatories around the world. Many of his students have been awarded top prizes in international competitions. As a sitting professor, he has served at the École Supérieure Musique et Danse de France in Lille since 2012, at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music from 2017 to 2020 (succeeding Sergio Assad), and at the Haute École de Musique de Genève since September 2020 (succeeding Dušan Bogdanović).
